Personal:

I am originally from Knoxville, TN and moved to SLC with Jake in 2010. I started racing in 2011 and had some great success before a major injury hit me in July 2012. I had athletic pubalgia surgery in May 2013...then again in Sept 2014 and am still trying to get back to my old self. Although running is my true passion, I love doing pretty much anything active outdoors - backcountry skiing, backpacking, biking, etc.

I've been running for the Saucony Team since 2011. I enjoy representing the brand and really do believe they make the best shoes :)

I work as a Quality Engineer for BD Medical in Sandy.

AM - 9.2 miles around Millcreek this morning. Took a couple miles to get moving, but then eased into a nice pace. It was dark when I started, and I am not ashamed to admit that I'm afraid of the dark! It lightened up after about 20 minutes, but the amount of daylight is definitely shrinking.

This is a great post by Jenny Barringer-Simpson that won the 1500 at the World Champs this past weekend. Definitely motivating -

PM - 1.5 miles around the block, just to loosen up. Wore my Saucony running skirt for the first time today and actually liked it. I'm not really the girly or trendy type but I have to say, it's pretty cute!

I am the same way about running in the dark. I dont like it and it slows my pace considerably. So sad that the days are getting shorter.

motivating for sure. thanks for posting.

my two favorite lines: "when you get your shoes on and out the door, your mind and body will often surprise you."

"when the valleys seemed deep, I showed up to work hard and dream big and believe in my support group."

so cool to hear her story -- she certainly had a rough ride but never stopped fighting. the look on her face at the end of the race said it all.

I hate running in the dark too! Especially in a canyon full of mountain lions!! :) Nice job on the miles and taking on the fear factor.
