Personal:

I am originally from Knoxville, TN and moved to SLC with Jake in 2010. I started racing in 2011 and had some great success before a major injury hit me in July 2012. I had athletic pubalgia surgery in May 2013...then again in Sept 2014 and am still trying to get back to my old self. Although running is my true passion, I love doing pretty much anything active outdoors - backcountry skiing, backpacking, biking, etc.

I've been running for the Saucony Team since 2011. I enjoy representing the brand and really do believe they make the best shoes :)

I work as a Quality Engineer for BD Medical in Sandy.

AM - 5.5 miles around Millcreek, still in post-marathon funk.

Great day for the blog today!! Obsessively checked Fritz and Emily updates all morning from CIM, so proud of both of them! Both with new PRs - Fritz 2:23:30, Emily Bates 2:47:07. Also saw that Bonnie ran a new PR on the Fiesta Half this morning! Congrats :)

AM - 30 minutes on the exercise bike. Taking another day off running today.

About 25 women ran under the Olympic Trials standard yesterday at CIM...it's hard not to wish we had gone to CIM instead of Philly for the marathon. Jake and I planned Philly way before we even thought we had a chance at making the Trials and decided to not to change that. CIM is said to be about 3 minutes faster than Philly and with the perfect weather they had...I really believe I could've done it there. And the cooler temperatures definitely could've changed Jake's electrolyte problems...I know that I'm dwelling and shouldn't look back anymore, but it's a challenge. I have a feeling they are going to going to lower the standard for the next trials, so I'll just have to get faster. It needs to snow so I can go skiing and get my mind off running for a while!

AM - 5 miles up towards Sugarhouse with Jake and back. Had to bring out the neck gaiter and long socks for the first time today. Hopefully I can put them away before May this year!

PM - Step Aerobics Class. It was fun to do a little something different.

This is a great resource for strengthening the hip-girdle area. Lots of injuries stem from hip weaknesses and imbalances, so I thought I would share. I'm going to try to do this routine a few times a week and hopefully it'll help my piriformis/back isssues when I get back into hard training.

Because I've been obsessing over a puppy for the past 2 weeks, Jake and I spent about an hour trying to think of the perfect name for a dog. #1 is definitely Tempo (mostly because I can say I went for a Tempo run every morning when I run around the block with the pup!).

AM - Met up with Devra this morning and ran 8 miles around Sandy, 7:30 pace. I think we are going to try to run together 1-2 times during the week. I felt better today than I have since the marathon.

AM - JAJA run! A little warmer out today and felt pretty good.

Thought this was interesting - women vs. men runners

Saturday - 8am - Jordan River Parkway @ 3300S. We'll probably do a 10 mile out-and-back and then add on after that. I'm planning on 13 miles. Easy run (7:30-8 min)... then breakfast afterwards if anyone wants to join us.

AM - 4.5 miles up to Sugarhouse with Jake and back. I could actually feel a difference in pace between running uphill and downhill - been a while. I'm looking forward to a couple months of easy running and feeling good.

AM - 13 miles on what has become the typical Saturday Jordan River Parkway run. We had a great crew today - Kam, Kelli, Adam, James, Allie, Chad, Scott, Jake, Rob M, and myself. 10 total! Average pace was right at 7:30, we started slower and then picked it up the last few miles. With such a crew I didn't get a chance to talk to everyone, but hopefully everyone had a nice run :) I got so excited about playing with the geese that I forgot to pay Allie AGAIN for breaking into my place 3 weeks ago (I promise I will!!!!).

Jake, Kam, Rob and I met up with Emily Bates for breakfast at Over the Counter. Rob was right - it is pretty good! We talked obsessively about running for two hours - marathoning, OTQ , upcoming schedules, etc. Good times.
